As part of their ‘fire management planning’, the NSW NPWS are again calling on volunteers to undertake koalas surveys this time in Biamanga NP . While it seems likely that some will volunteer to assist in the surveys there are, unfortunately, many issues that remain unresolved and unanswered.
In a press release dated 17 February 2010 local member and now NSW Aged and Disabled Minister, Mr Andrew Constance called on the NSW Government to release all data on koalas.
As this information is yet to be released a request for information has been sent today to Minister Constance asking if his Government will release it.
While it seems likely that the NPWS will do anything to ensure they do not have to change their management and keep a tight hold on the data, joining those who are happy to make things easy for them is neither a palatable or acceptable option.
