A better year for koalas?

At the start of a new year we can only hope, neurotic though it may be, that any Federal Government decision to protect the last koalas, supposedly on February 17, will be a positive one.  Stopping logging in the Five Forests would be a good start, followed by their support for a pro-active approach to forest restoration in the catchments from Wapengo to Dignams Creek.

There is also the need for adequate koala monitoring, preferably within a comprehensive and adaptive approach to koala habitat restoration.

The big issue is whether the State Government can be trusted and regrettably there is still no evidence to suggest they can be.
